Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has hosted a delegation from Indian agribusiness company, Srinivasa Farms Pvt. Ltd., as part of efforts to develop the state’s poultry sector and attract foreign investment.
The team, led by the company’s Vice President, Senthil Kumar Krishnan, visited the Government House in Dutse. The visit follows the state government’s investment trip to India in May 2025, where discussions on agricultural cooperation, including poultry development, began.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, the delegation is carrying out a four-day technical assessment in Kazaure, Gumel, Hadejia, and Dutse. The team is reviewing poultry facilities, meeting with farmers, and exploring areas of collaboration such as establishing a hatchery and a poultry feed mill.
Governor Namadi said the partnership is aimed at creating jobs, increasing revenue, and improving poultry production in the state. He noted that the visit is one of several outcomes from the India mission, which has also led to agreements in seed production and other agribusiness areas.
He added that the government plans to build a sustainable poultry value chain through private sector support, including training and technology transfer for local farmers.
Krishnan said the company has over 60 years of experience in poultry production and operates in several countries. He said the assessment shows strong potential for partnership, noting similarities in climate and farming conditions between India and Jigawa State.
He added that the collaboration would support farmers with access to quality chicks, affordable feed, veterinary services, and improved market access.
