As part of the partnership, L-PRES donated four Automatic Weather Observation Systems to NiMet. The equipment is expected to support accurate and localised weather data for livestock farmers.

The National Coordinator of L-PRES, Mr. Sanusi Abubakar, presented the equipment during a visit to the Director General of NiMet, Professor Charles Anosike, in Abuja on Wednesday.

Abubakar congratulated the NiMet Director General on the release of the 2026 Seasonal Climate Prediction. He said the agency’s work supports agriculture and climate resilience.

He said the partnership will help L-PRES strengthen livestock productivity and improve farmers’ ability to adapt to changing weather conditions. According to him, reliable weather information helps livestock farmers manage grazing and water resources.

In his response, Anosike commended L-PRES for donating the weather monitoring equipment. He said the AWOS units will be installed in rehabilitated grazing reserves to provide accurate weather observations for livestock farmers.

Both organisations said they will continue the partnership to support the livestock sector and address climate-related challenges.
