Gombe Targets Regional Agro-Livestock Hub

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, says his administration is positioning the state as a regional hub for agriculture and livestock development in line with Nigeria’s Renewed Hope National Development Plan for 2026 to 2030.

He spoke on Monday at the two-day National Economic Council Conference at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The meeting focused on inclusive growth and sustainable national development.

The governor said agriculture and livestock remain central to the state’s economic strategy, with reforms, investments and partnerships aimed at boosting growth, creating jobs and improving food security.

Yahaya said the state is investing in agriculture, livestock development, infrastructure, education, healthcare and human capital to support inclusive growth. He added that Gombe is using its comparative advantages to increase food production, expand employment and diversify the economy.

He noted that state governments play a key role in implementing national development plans at the grassroots and expressed confidence that cooperation among federal and state governments, development partners and the private sector will support agricultural transformation.

The conference brought together President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors, ministers, lawmakers, development partners and private sector leaders to review development strategies under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

President Tinubu said ongoing economic reforms, improved revenue to states, infrastructure expansion and targeted social investments remain central to the administration’s development plans.
