Kaduna is gearing up to host the pilot phase of the National Integrated Poultry Project — a bold agricultural venture born from the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP). The initiative, valued at over $450 million, is expected to generate more than 350,000 jobs and reshape Nigeria’s poultry industry through large-scale production, innovation, and international collaboration.
Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, and NCSP Director-General, Joseph Tegbe, to Kaduna for talks that sealed the state’s role as the launch site of the project. Over 7,000 hectares of land have already been allocated for immediate development, marking a decisive step toward Nigeria’s goal of self-sufficiency in poultry production.
Tegbe lauded Kaduna’s swift commitment, describing the project as a game-changer for food security and affordability. He noted that by producing feed locally and expanding poultry output, the project will help lower the cost of eggs and chicken products, supporting millions of Nigerian households under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Governor Sani hailed the partnership as a defining moment for the state’s agricultural future. “Kaduna is ready to lead Nigeria’s drive for food security and inclusive prosperity,” he declared. “This collaboration will not only boost productivity but also empower thousands of farmers and entrepreneurs across the value chain.”
Ambassador Dunhai praised Kaduna’s political stability and investor-friendly environment, describing it as an ideal destination for global partnerships. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s development through practical and mutually beneficial investments.
Construction of the 10,000-hectare facility will commence in December 2025, combining maize and soybean cultivation with large-scale poultry operations. The project is expected to create 50,000 direct jobs and more than 300,000 indirect opportunities — a transformative leap for Nigeria’s agricultural landscape.
