During the working visit from November 9 to 14, 2025, Gombe’s delegation, led by Agriculture Commissioner Dr. Barnabas M. Malle and L-PRES Coordinator Prof. Usman Bello Abubakar, engaged Morocco’s top agricultural institutions through strategic meetings and field sessions. The interactions opened doors for potential trade, knowledge transfer and technical collaboration across key livestock and agribusiness areas.
The team explored Morocco’s successful agricultural financing models, modern red-meat value chains and well-structured agribusiness clusters, gaining insight into systems that have powered the country’s export competitiveness. Visits to integrated dairy farms, processing facilities, poultry operations and the Kenitra Artificial Insemination Centre offered firsthand exposure to advanced breeding, production and veterinary practices.
Gombe stands to benefit immensely from the new partnership, particularly through improved livestock genetics, access to artificial insemination technologies and enhanced veterinary capacity. These advancements are expected to boost dairy yields, strengthen meat quality and improve disease resistance among local livestock breeds.
The collaboration also aligns with the state’s ambitious infrastructural projects, including the Ultramodern Abattoir and the International Livestock Market championed by Governor Inuwa Yahaya. Technical support from Morocco is expected to help position these facilities for international certification and future export operations.
With growing interest from Moroccan agribusiness investors and shared expertise in irrigation, water harvesting and pasture development, Gombe is poised to strengthen its grazing reserves and livestock clusters. The establishment of a Joint Technical Working Group further guarantees the state a direct role in shaping upcoming cooperation agreements, ahead of the formal signing at the SIAM Agriculture Show in April 2026.
