Danone Launches Global Milk Academy to Transform Dairy Farming

Danone has unveiled its groundbreaking Milk Academy, a global training and innovation hub designed to empower dairy farmers with the knowledge, tools, and technology needed to build a more resilient and sustainable dairy supply chain.

The multi-year programme aims to help farmers of all sizes navigate economic and environmental challenges through accredited training, expert guidance, and digital learning resources. With three Centres of Excellence forming the backbone of the initiative, Danone is creating a global network where farmers, researchers, and technical partners can exchange knowledge and drive real-world impact.

The first centre, launched this week in Ohio, brought together 60 dairy partners from nine countries in collaboration with Cornell University and industry leaders including Lely, MSD Animal Health, and Zoetis. Additional centres are set to open in Belgium and Morocco, focusing on the unique needs of mid-sized and smallholder farms.

Danone’s Chief Operations Officer, Vikram Agarwal, said the academy represents a major step in equipping farmers for the future. “What it takes to thrive as a farmer is changing,” he noted. “By connecting science with hands-on practice, we’re helping farmers make their businesses more agile, resilient, and sustainable—ready to meet the demands of tomorrow’s consumers.”

Through partnerships with Wageningen University & Research and Cornell University, participants will receive accredited training on herd productivity, soil health, regenerative agriculture, and emission reduction. The programme also includes modules on business management and succession planning to strengthen long-term viability.

The Milk Academy is a cornerstone of Danone’s broader Impact Journey, the company’s long-term roadmap for building more inclusive, low-carbon food systems. By investing in farmer training and innovation, Danone hopes to accelerate the global shift toward regenerative agriculture—securing the future of dairy for both producers and consumers worldwide.
