During the UN Food Systems Summit Stocktake in Ethiopia, Zambia’s Agriculture Minister Reuben Mtolo confirmed the country’s readiness to integrate the system. He hailed the innovation as a major leap forward for veterinary modernization and expressed confidence that it would enhance livestock health and oversight across Zambia.
Minister Mtolo emphasized the need for deeper cooperation in transferring this technology and welcomed Kenya’s readiness to offer technical assistance. He also pointed to the importance of boosting local vaccine production capacity—an area where Kenya is already ahead, producing up to 14 types of vaccines including those critical for diseases like Foot and Mouth.
Kenya’s Agriculture and Livestock Minister, Mutahi Kagwe, echoed the value of this partnership, highlighting the added benefit of increased maize trade to bolster food and feed security for both countries.
Both nations reaffirmed their dedication to the 2022 Memorandum of Understanding on Agriculture, a pact designed to deepen trade, innovation, and sustainable farming practices between the two countries.
