K1.3 Million Boost Transforms Farming Prospects in Isoka District

A wave of optimism swept through Isoka District as the government delivered agricultural equipment and livestock worth K1.3 million to local farmers, marking a significant step towards strengthening rural livelihoods and securing the region’s food future. The handover, led by Minister of Community Development and Social Services, Hon. Doreen Mwamba, aims to transform small-scale farming into a more productive, profitable, and sustainable venture, giving vulnerable households the means to break free from poverty cycles.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Mwamba highlighted that agricultural mechanisation is the driving force behind improved crop yields, enhanced nutrition, and greater economic opportunities for rural communities. She commended the Food Security Pack (FSP) beneficiaries for their improved repayment rates, which she said were unlocking more community-driven initiatives to uplift struggling households. Her message was clear — food security requires collaboration among all stakeholders, and the government remains committed to meeting the nutritional needs of its citizens.

Local leaders echoed this optimism. Isoka Member of Parliament, Ms. Marjorie Nakaponda, urged beneficiaries to make full use of the new equipment to boost household incomes, while also stressing the importance of proper maintenance to ensure long-term benefits. District Commissioner Mr. Jairo Simbeya lauded the government for providing life-changing tools that will cut down the long distances farmers often travel to access essential agricultural services.

This intervention is part of a broader government agenda to modernise rural agriculture and strengthen community resilience. Through initiatives like the Social Cash Transfer and Village Banking programmes, the administration is steadily building a foundation where rural communities can thrive, secure their food supply, and create sustainable sources of income for generations to come.
