The Federal Government has unveiled plans to collaborate with Brazilian livestock giant JBJ Brazil to establish a 100,000-hectare cattle ranch in Niger State, set to house 100,000 bulls.

Announced by the Minister of Livestock Development, Malam Idi Mukhtar, during a visit to Governor Umaru Bago in Minna, the initiative is part of a $2.5 billion livestock investment deal aimed at revolutionizing Nigeria’s cattle industry.
The ranch will benefit from Niger State’s natural advantages, including vast land, water resources, and a favorable climate.
Governor Bago, represented by Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba, affirmed the state’s commitment by allocating 1.2 million hectares for livestock development, with 100,000 hectares designated for the ranch.
Mr. Sammy Adigun, Chairman of Niger Foods, confirmed that JBJ Brazil and JBS will oversee animal production and processing, with federal support ensuring smooth operations.
This landmark project is expected to boost local meat production, create jobs, and modernize Nigeria’s livestock sector, positioning Niger State as a hub for large-scale cattle ranching.
