As COVID-19 Palliative, MLA Compiles Online Resources For Livestock Farmers

The Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) has rolled out some online resources aimed at helping red meat and livestock farmers to sustain productivity during the Corona virus pandemic.

MLA, Australian agricultural research and development led organisation that provides guidance for the red meat and livestock industry locally and internationally.  In line with the organization’s mandate of ensuring long term prosperity of Australia’s meat industry, the agency have compiled e-learning resources for stakeholders in the industry.  This effort is to serve as a palliative for farmers who have their workshop and event cancelled or postponed in 2020 following the outbreak of COVID-19.

MLA released these resources on their website in hopes that red meat and livestock farmers will continue to leverage on them to build their businesses in these changing times.  

These resources have been classified into practical tools and webinars.

Resources shared under the practical tools are:

1.      MLA Genetics Hub: This provides resources on understanding genetics and breeding values. Though this hub is tailored for tropical and temperate cattle producers whereas other cattle farmers can take cues on the role genetics play in improving the health of their farmers.

2.      MLA Tools and Calculators: This resource helps red meat producers to make informed decisions through effective calculations.

3.   Making More From Sheep is another e-platform for sheep farmers to improve their productivity and profitability.

4.      MLA Youtube Channel is a go-to online resource for a variety of topics across red meat and livestock industry.

5. FarmHub’s Drought Preparedness e-guide also provides industry stakeholders information on how to prepare for drought.

MLA in addition to this organises webinars on issues ranging on profitability and productivity within the livestock industry and health of sheep among others.
