Importation of Brazilian beef and pork has resumed following the temporary closure in December 2017 over issues of contamination with worldwide banned additive ractopamine.
Brazil’s agriculture defense secretary commented that much labor had gone into making sure that the exports satisfied Russian markets. He also noted that the bulk of the work in keeping the meat ractopamine-free depend on the producers and the refrigerators.
It was revealed in a tweet by the Brazil’s Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) that Russia imports 230,400 tonnes of meat from Brazil, about 40% of the country’s total meat exports. ABPA also expressed their gladness that this development has on resumption of exportation to Eastern Europe.
