A Nigerian based agricultural non-profit organisation, Agricultural Social Entrepreneurship Foundation (ASEF), a subsidiary of FarmKonnect Agribusiness Nigeria Limited and one of the leading advocates for youth inclusion in profitable livestock farming in Nigeria, donated food items to 600 families in Oyo State, Nigeria.
The presentation of the relief materials was graced by the presence of Mr. Muyiwa Ojekunle, the Commissioner of Agriculture; the Executive Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, Mr. Debo Akande and other top functionaries.
“The move to make this
donation is imperative, because of the restriction of movement within the State
that has grossly affected those who survive on daily earnings”, said Mr. Azeez Oluwole,
founder and CEO of FarmKonnect.
“Hence, this donation
is just our bit to the government and a way of saying thank you ministry for
the support we as an organisation have enjoyed”, he added.
In response to this
kind gesture, Mr. Debo Akande thanked ASEF for the initiative taken at a
crucial time in the State. He also re-affirmed the efforts of the Oyo State
Governor, Mr. Seyi Makinde in minimizing the effect of the partial lock down on
the welfare of the citizens by mandating him alongside the Commissioner for
Agriculture to lead the Food, Security and Welfare Task Force for the State.
He added that, “there
is nothing that is too small and nothing is too big in this emergency”, “What
we want to ensure is that we engage those that will be involved in the
distribution, so it would be done in a well coordinated manner”.
